Waynesville

Welcome To

Waynesville is the largest mountain town west of Asheville and just 20 minutes north of Sylva. Each year Waynesville hosts the North Carolina International Folkmoot Festival. For two weeks in July, the Folkmoot Festival showcases food, dance, music and exhibits from cultures the world over. In addition, Waynesville host the Parade of Nations where artist, dancers and musicians from around the world ascend and perform on its main street.

Farm to table

Waynesville’s downtown sports boutiques and local gift shops, restaurants serving farm-to-table offerings and a lively craft brewery scene. Waynesville also has its share of museums, parks, theaters and farmers markets. Located in Haywood County, the area has always provided rich soil for crops, which is why it’s become a travel destination for agritourism. Spend the day at a number of u-pick farms for veggies, fruit and flowers, or select a fresh Christmas tree directly from the growers.

Hart Theater in Waynesville sits in the shadow of Cold Mountain showcasing the finest talent in the region in a year round schedule of plays and musicals. Right next door to the theatre is the Shelton House Museum, barn and grounds. The Museum promotes Western North Carolina history, hermitage and crafts and is also known as the Museum of North Carolina Handicrafts. Spend your days on Lake Junaluska canoeing, kayaking, hiking or fishing for that big trout to hang on the wall.
